BOTOX IN OXFORD, MS:

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

If you have been thinking about Botox for the first time, I want you to know this first — it is completely normal to feel nervous, curious, or even a little unsure.

I meet so many patients who say, “I don’t want to look frozen,” or “I just want to look like myself, but a little more refreshed.” And honestly, that is exactly how I believe wrinkle relaxer treatments should be approached.

At Flight Aesthetics & Salon in Oxford, MS, my goal is never to change who you are. My goal is to listen, educate, guide you through your options, and help you feel confident in your treatment plan.

Whether you live here in Oxford, Mississippi, work nearby, or are looking for a trusted aesthetic provider near Ole Miss, your first appointment should feel comfortable — not intimidating.

WHY FIRST-TIMERS IN OXFORD ARE CHOOSING BOTOX

Botox has become one of the most popular first-time aesthetic treatments because it is quick, customizable, and does not require surgery or major downtime.

Some patients come in because they are starting to notice forehead lines, frown lines, or crow’s feet. Others come in because they feel like they look tired, tense, or stressed, even when they do not feel that way on the inside.

And some patients are not even sure what they need. They just know they want to feel a little more confident.

That is where a good consultation matters.

“BOTOX” AND WRINKLE RELAXERS: WHY THE WORDING CAN GET CONFUSING

A lot of people use the word “Botox” to describe any wrinkle relaxer treatment, but Botox is actually one specific brand name. The more accurate category is wrinkle relaxer, neuromodulator, or neurotoxin.

At Flight Aesthetics & Salon, the main wrinkle relaxer brands we use are Dysport, Daxxify, and Letybo.

All of these products work similarly by temporarily relaxing targeted muscles that cause expression lines, but each product has its own personality, onset, duration, and best use. During your consultation, we will discuss which option makes the most sense for your facial movement, anatomy, goals, timeline, and budget.

To keep things simple for patients, I dose and charge wrinkle relaxers in Botox-equivalent units. This helps reduce confusion when comparing brands and treatment plans.

WHAT WRINKLE RELAXERS ACTUALLY DO

Wrinkle relaxers temporarily relax specific facial muscles that cause expression lines.

These are the lines that show up when you frown, raise your eyebrows, smile, or squint. Over time, repeated movement can make those lines more noticeable, even when your face is relaxed.

When placed thoughtfully, wrinkle relaxers can soften those lines while still allowing you to have natural expression. The goal is not to look frozen. The goal is to look rested, refreshed, and still like yourself.

COMMON AREAS TREATED WITH WRINKLE RELAXERS

Wrinkle relaxers can be used in several areas of the face depending on your anatomy, goals, and whether treatment is appropriate for you.

Common treatment areas include:

  • Frown lines between the brows, also called the “11s”

  • Forehead lines

  • Crow’s feet around the eyes

  • Bunny lines on the nose

  • Lip flip

  • Downturned corners of the mouth

  • Chin dimpling

  • Jawline slimming or masseter treatment

  • Neck bands

Not every area is right for every patient. This is why your consultation and facial assessment are so important.

HOW MANY UNITS DO I NEED?

The number of units needed depends on your muscle strength, anatomy, facial movement, treatment goals, previous treatment history, and the area being treated.

At Flight Aesthetics & Salon, I dose and charge wrinkle relaxers in Botox-equivalent units to make pricing and treatment plans easier to understand.

Here are general starting ranges commonly discussed during consultation:

  • Frown lines between the brows: 15–25 units

  • Forehead lines: 8–20 units

  • Crow’s feet: 12–24 units total

  • Bunny lines: 4–8 units

  • Lip flip: 4–8 units

  • Downturned mouth corners: 4–8 units

  • Chin dimpling: 4–8 units

  • Masseters/jawline slimming: 20–50 units per side, depending on muscle strength and goal

  • Neck bands: varies depending on anatomy and the number of bands treated

These are only general ranges. Some patients need less, and some need more. My goal is always to recommend what is safe, appropriate, and natural-looking for your face.

It is also important to know that underdosing may lead to a shorter result or less smoothing than expected. I will always discuss your options with you so we can choose a treatment plan that fits your goals, budget, and desired maintenance schedule.

WHY YOUR TREATMENT MAY BE DIFFERENT FROM SOMEONE ELSE’S

It is very common for patients to compare their treatment to a friend’s treatment, but wrinkle relaxers are not one-size-fits-all.

Two people can treat the same area and need very different doses. Muscle strength, facial anatomy, brow position, asymmetry, age, skin quality, metabolism, and treatment goals all matter.

My goal is not to copy someone else’s treatment plan. My goal is to create the right plan for your face.

LET’S TALK ABOUT “DILUTION”

One thing I hear patients ask about is whether their Botox was “diluted.” This wording can be confusing.

The better word is reconstitution.

Wrinkle relaxers come as a powder and must be mixed with sterile saline before they can be injected. This process is called reconstitution. Different providers may use different reconstitution volumes, such as a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio, depending on their preference and technique.

At Flight Aesthetics & Salon, I reconstitute my wrinkle relaxers using a 1:1 reconstitution, regardless of brand.

The important thing to understand is that reconstitution volume does not change the actual strength of the product when the correct number of units is injected. A different reconstitution may change how concentrated the liquid is in the syringe, but it does not make the product stronger or weaker.

Effectiveness and duration depend most on appropriate product selection, accurate placement, and adequate dosing for your muscle strength and treatment goals.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT FLIGHT AESTHETICS & SALON

Your first appointment at Flight Aesthetics & Salon starts with a conversation.

We will talk about your goals, your concerns, your medical history, and what you do and do not want. I will assess your facial movement, muscle strength, symmetry, and overall anatomy.

Every face is different, so wrinkle relaxer treatment should never be one-size-fits-all.

I also believe in explaining the “why” behind what I recommend. I want you to understand where the product may be placed, how many units may be needed, what kind of result to expect, and what we are trying to avoid.

The treatment itself is usually quick. Most patients describe it as a tiny pinch or pressure. You may have a few small bumps or redness immediately afterward, but those usually settle quickly.

Most first-time appointments take around 30 minutes, and you can return to most normal daily activities afterward.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

To help reduce your risk of bruising and help your appointment go smoothly, here are a few things to keep in mind before treatment:

Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment if possible.

Avoid blood-thinning medications or supplements such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and similar products unless they are prescribed by your medical provider.

Come with a clean face if you can.

Avoid scheduling your treatment right before a major event. It is best to give your results about two weeks to fully settle.

Be ready to share your medical history, medications, allergies, previous treatments, and your goals.

And most importantly, come with your questions. I never want you to feel rushed or pressured.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

After treatment, you can return to most normal activities, but there are a few aftercare guidelines I recommend:

  • Do not rub or massage the treated areas for the rest of the day.

  • Avoid lying flat for about 4 hours.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, or excessive heat for 24 hours.

  • Avoid facials, facial massage, or pressure on the treated areas for at least 24 hours.

  • Your results will not be immediate. Most patients begin to notice softening within a few days, with full results usually assessed around two weeks.

This is why I like to remind first-time patients that wrinkle relaxer treatments are a process. We are not chasing perfection. We are creating a soft, balanced result that fits your face.

WHEN DOES BOTOX PEAK, AND WHEN DOES IT WEAR OFF?

Wrinkle relaxer results gradually build, peak, and then slowly wear off.

Most patients notice the strongest effect around the first few weeks after treatment. After that, the product slowly begins to wear off as muscle movement returns over time.

This does not usually happen overnight. It is gradual. You may first notice a little more movement returning before your lines fully come back.

For most patients, retreatment is needed about every 3 to 4 months, although this can vary based on the product used, the dose placed, the area treated, your metabolism, your muscle strength, and how consistently you stay on schedule.

WHY CONSISTENT TREATMENT MATTERS

There are two main types of lines: dynamic lines and static lines.

Dynamic lines are the lines you see with movement, such as frowning, raising your eyebrows, smiling, or squinting.

Static lines are the lines that are visible even when your face is relaxed.

Wrinkle relaxers work best on dynamic lines because they soften the repeated muscle movement that creates those folds. With appropriate and consistent treatment, many patients notice that static lines can gradually soften over time because the skin is no longer being creased as strongly or as often.

This is why staying on a consistent treatment schedule can be helpful. We are not just treating the movement you see today. We are also trying to prevent those repeated movements from becoming deeper etched-in lines over time.

That being said, deeper static lines may need combination treatment, such as medical-grade skincare, microneedling, RF microneedling, resurfacing, or filler depending on the area and your goals.

HOW MUCH DOES BOTOX COST IN OXFORD, MS?

Botox pricing in Oxford, MS, can vary depending on the product used, the number of units needed, the areas treated, and the provider’s experience.

At Flight Aesthetics & Salon, wrinkle relaxer treatments start at $11 per unit.

The total cost depends on your treatment plan. Some patients need fewer units, while others may need more, depending on muscle strength, facial anatomy, product choice, and desired results.

During your consultation, we will review your options and pricing before treatment so you know what to expect.

MY HEART BEHIND TREATMENT

I know that walking into an aesthetics appointment for the first time can feel vulnerable. You are trusting someone with your face, your confidence, and sometimes even insecurities you may not often talk about.

That is not something I take lightly.

My approach is rooted in honesty, education, safety, and faith. I believe God has allowed me to use my medical background and my story to care for people in a way that is both skilled and compassionate.

You will never be pressured into doing more than you are ready for. My goal is to guide you, educate you, and help you make a decision that feels right for you.
